As Onkyo’s new flagship home network receiver, the TX-NR5009 packs the ultimate in clean power, precise processing, and abundant connectivity. Power is delivered through a massive toroidal transformer and multiple transformers for A/V processing, with the chassis encased in separate panels to reduce vibrations. Gold-plated HDMI® terminals, speaker posts, and A/V inputs speak to build quality of the highest order. Video output from the TX-NR5009 benefits from advanced HQV® Vida™ processing, ISF video calibration, and 4K upscaling via Qdeo™ technology. Audio, meanwhile, is processed via high-end 192 kHz/32-bit TI Burr-Brown DACs, with support for DSD Direct from SACD and DTS Neo:X™surround-sound processing. Audyssey MultEQ® XT32 gets the most out of movie and game soundtracks and fills your music with energy and pure musicality. As your all-purpose switching center, the TX-NR5009 includes eight 3D-ready HDMI inputs, 9.2-multichannel pre-outs, and an Ethernet port for internet radio and PC audio. Separate Panel Construction

The TX-NR5009 features separate aluminum panels for the sides and front to reduce unwanted vibrations caused by internal resonance. Compared to a one-piece chassis design, this construction method offers greater rigidity and improved noise reduction.

Network Capability Delivers Internet Radio and Network Audio Streaming via Ethernet

Linking directly to the internet or to a media server or home PC via a local network, the TX-NR5009 takes streaming audio and internet radio to a whole new level. MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, FLAC, WAV, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, and LPCM audio files can now be played back through your main system with unprecedented power and fidelity. The TX-NR5009 also brings to life a huge array of internet radio channels from Last.fm and vTuner, plus on-demand music streaming from Napster, Spotify, and AUPEO!*. As well as being compatible with earlier platforms, the receiver is compatible with Microsoft’s Windows® 7 platform, which includes the DLNA 1.5-specified “Play To” media-streaming feature. The TX-NR5009’s internet connectivity has the added benefit of making firmware updates simpler than ever.

THX® Ultra2 Plus™ Certified

The ultimate benchmark for home audio performance, THX Ultra2 Plus is specified for rooms where the screento-seat viewing distance is more than 4 meters and the room volume is 85 cubic meters or greater. To achieve THX Ultra2 Plus certification, the TX-NR5009 must meet the world’s most demanding standards for home cinema audio quality and performance, and must play at reference volume levels with minimal distortion.

High-Quality Video Processing with HQV® Vida™ VHD1900

The sophisticated HQV Vida VHD1900 processor enhances the quality of both standard-definition and high-definition video sources. The chip employs multi-cadence tracking, expanded 12-bit color processing, and four-field motion-adaptive de-interlacing to optimize video quality and detail. Two new HQV technologies are incorporated into the VHD1900: Auto HQV™, which automatically enhances the incoming image; and HQV StreamClean™, which cleans up compressed video in real time by eliminating mosquito and block noise from lower-quality sources such as online video sites.

4K Video Upscaling

The TX-NR5009 employs Qdeo technology from Marvell to achieve full 4K (3840 x 2160) upscaling of 1080p video sources—even sources that have been upscaled to 1080p from lower resolutions by on-board HQV Vida technology. Played back on a compatible wide-screen display, your Bluray Discs and other high-def content will look more detailed and cinematic than ever.

Harnessing Power for Audio Performance

Onkyo's H.C.P.S. (High Current Power Supply) concept is based around power transformers with the capability to respond to the wide dynamics of home cinema. In the case of the TX-NR5009, a massive toroidal transformer improves power efficiency and radiates very little noise into the surrounding circuitry, while two additional transformers cater to audio and video processing.
